Michael J. Shavel
PartnerYardley, PAMichael J. Shavel is a partner of Hill Wallack LLP. He is a member of the Banking & Financial Services and Creditors’ Rights/Bankruptcy practice groups.
Mr. Shavel has 30 years of experience exclusively practicing in the lending, banking and creditors’ rights field. Martindale Hubbell® has awarded Mr. Shavel its highest rating standard, AV Preeminent rating which signifies that a large number of lawyer's peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence for his legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.
He has closed numerous complex commercial finance transactions, including acquisition financing, asset-based financing and real estate and construction financing. Mr. Shavel advises lenders on compliance with UCC Article 9, intercreditor relationships, as well as work out and creditor’s rights in bankruptcy. In addition, he has extensive experience as a closing attorney representing national banks, community banks, credit unions and other financial institutions in connection with SBA financing, including 7(a) and 504 loans.
Mr. Shavel is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (1990), State of New Jersey (1990) and the State of New York (2009). He received his J.D. from Ohio Northern University with honors and his B.A. from Drew University.

- A national financial institution as participant in conjunction with $1B debt restructuring of debt secured by proceeds of movies rights
- Drafting of "standard" form lease documentation for international leasing company
- The leasing subsidiary of regional bank in conjunction with structuring and documenting personal property lease transactions
- The national re-discount financing arm of a national bank in the documentation of credit facilities collateralized by re-discount paper
- Successful reorganization of a multi-state collection firm in Chapter 11 bankruptcy
